a D&D London restaurant

Alan Jones joined Almeida in summer 2007 in his first head chef position and has created a modern menu with strong influences from his classical French background.

After graduating from City of Bristol College, Alan started his culinary career at the Criterion Brasserie in Piccadilly, where he was chef de partie and often helped cater for up to 400 customers in one service. In 2000 Alan moved on to be part of the opening team for Neat Restaurant, working under Michelin-starred chef Richard Neat. He joined Foliage at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park as chef de partie and in 2002 he was a regional finalist for the Gordon Ramsay Scholarship Award. After a stint at Incognico, part of Nico Ladenis's empire, he became sous chef at a pub in Hampshire, where his recipes were published in The Gastro Pub Cookbook, compiled by Diana Henry.

In early 2004, Alan joined Lucknam Park country house hotel, where he worked under Hywel Jones. The following year, the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star and won Tatler's 'Best Out of Town' Restaurant award. In 2005, Alan was also a finalist in the South West Chef of the Year.
